Glen Huntly takes its name from Glen Huntly Road, which was named after a ship quarantined in the bay at Red Bluff.

The Glen Huntly arrived in Hobsons Bay in April 1840 carrying typhus fever sufferers. A few of the passengers died after the ship’s arrival and were buried on the bluff.
